Autotrader
AutoTrader.co.uk is owned by Trader Media Group, one of Europe’s largest specialist multi-media groups and provider of market leading websites and their associated magazines, including Top Marques, Bike Trader & Ad Trader.
Autotrader.co.uk have created an automotive digital marketing solution called RAZSOR. RAZSOR offers a complete end-to-end solution from integrated car sales websites through to social media monitoring and engagement. We have a variety of package options to suit business needs and budget.
The goal of RAZSOR was to develop websites for Dealers (linked to from autotrader.co.uk) which improve SEO benefit, increase their leads & provide greater ease of maintenance.
The project was developed using agile concepts from Lean/XP school of thought & includes pair programming (inc. Tester/Programmer), BDD/TDD & more recently Kanban to help the team move towards self organisation.
My role on the project was to liaise with stakeholders such as the Business (Product Owners), Business Analysts & Programmers in order to help identify features, their requirements & see their development through to completion & subsequent delivery to the production environment.
As Testers, we tried to identify defects before the code containing the defect is committed into the continuous integration pipeline (Thoughtworks GO). We are fortunate that there is a regression test suite in place for ensuring the functionality of the code which frees up time in order to carry out exploratory testing.
Testers & Programmers worked together in order to identify required automated checks in the regression test suite. We then work together to write the automated checks using JUnit, WebDriver & Twist
My speciality within the team focussed not only on testing, but also on helping to improve the processes within the Development team. I take great interest in how the team works together & the relationships between all the members of the team.
Trader Media Group recruited Thoughtworks to help bring the project to fruition, as such the projects are managed with Thoughtworks tools such as Mingle, Go/Cruise & Twist 2.
As well as testing the software, I have also been involved with Business Analysis & facilitating retrospectives
For more information on my testing ideology, please see my page on How I Test.
